Banjarbaru, Borneoinfonews.com – A total of 20 participants from nine Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis) in Banjar Regency took part in the “English for Tourism” training organized by the Department of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disbudporapar) of Banjar Regency. The training took place over three days, from April 21 to 23, 2025, at Hotel Aeris, Banjarbaru City, April 23, 2025.

The event aimed to improve communication skills in English for local tourism actors, particularly those in village tourism, to better serve international tourists visiting their destinations.

The nine participating Pokdarwis included Pokdarwis Pasar Terapung Lok Baintan, Bhina Lestari, Monumen Divisi ALRI Paku Alam, Penyaluhan Indah, Pesona Riam Kanan Matang Kaladan, Mayang Sari, Murung Batu Laba, Palawangan, and Sungai Rangas Tengah.

The training featured materials from Erini Junita Sari, BA (Hons), M.Sc., an expert in tourism communication development. The curriculum included basic English conversation, techniques for explaining destination information to tourists, and a simulation of tourism service interactions.

“This training is very useful for us on the ground, especially in welcoming foreign tourists. We are not just relying on smiles anymore; we can also communicate information effectively,” said Rasyad, the Head of Pokdarwis Palawangan, one of the training participants.
